Medical, thoughtful care for clearer, healthier skin

Acne is a medical condition with many contributing factors—hormonal shifts, genetics, inflammation, oil production, and skin barrier dysfunction. Because no two patients experience acne in the same way, effective treatment requires careful evaluation and an individualized approach.
At Skinfocused, acne treatment is physician-directed and grounded in dermatologic science. Our goal is not only to clear active breakouts, but to protect skin health and minimize potential scarring.
How Acne Treatment Works
Acne treatment often involves a multimodal strategy, tailored to the type, severity, and cause of acne:
Medical-grade topical and prescription therapies to regulate oil production, reduce inflammation, and normalize cell turnover
Oral medications, when appropriate, to address hormonal or inflammatory drivers
In-office procedures, including light- and laser-based treatments, to calm inflammation, reduce bacteria, and support healing
Targeted treatments for acne scarring and post-inflammatory discoloration, once active acne is controlled
Treatment plans evolve over time as the skin responds and goals change.
Potential treatments may include one or more of the following: chemical peels, cosmetic extractions, and laser therapies to reduce bacterial load and Inflammation, as well as to minimize the appearance of residual marks after the active acne resolves. Acne scarring may be addressed with non-ablative laser resurfacing treatments and microneedling which can stimulate collagen remodeling and improve skin appearance. Finally, radiofrequency microneedling treatments (Genius) and even Ellacor treatments may address localized scarring as well.
Downtime & Expected Results
Downtime depends on the treatments selected but is typically minimal. Most patients continue normal activities while undergoing acne care, with adjustments made gradually to protect the skin barrier and avoid unnecessary irritation.
Over time, we expect reduced breakouts and inflammation with a gradual improvement in skin clarity, tone, and texture. With early, appropriate intervention, there is a lower risk of scarring. Acne treatment is a process, not a single visit. Consistency and physician guidance are key to long-term success.
