Photofractional laser treatment is a thoughtfully designed combination of ResurFX fractional laser resurfacing and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), performed in succession during the same visit to address both texture and tone. By pairing collagen-stimulating fractional laser energy with targeted light therapy for pigment and redness, this physician-recommended approach delivers comprehensive skin rejuvenation in an efficient, well-tolerated manner.
At Skinfocused, photofractional treatment is offered selectively—only when this combination is the right choice for your skin.
Treat deeper lines and wrinkles and more superficial sun spots and redness with the Photofractional laser treatments. Performed in succession, this cutting-edge technology improves the skin quickly and with little downtime.
Thoughtful Targeting: Fractionated Duo, Photofractional Treatments, Light & Bright
At Skinfocused, our physicians may customize our laser treatments by combining with other devices for an efficient and effective laser treatment regimen. ResurFX may be combined with IPL to address both texture and pigment through Photofractional treatment, or Dr. Kosann or Dr. Levine may recommend pairing the ResurFX with LaseMD for a Fraxel-like resurfacing approach known as our Fractionated Duo.
For patients prioritizing minimal recovery, we offer a lower-energy Light & Bright option that enhances tone and radiance with reduced downtime.
How Photofractional Treatment Works
Photofractional treatment combines two complementary and cutting-edge technologies:
ResurFX fractional laser stimulates collagen remodeling beneath the skin’s surface to improve texture, fine lines, and early laxity.
IPL targets excess pigment and visible vascular changes to improve discoloration, redness, and overall skin clarity.
By addressing both structural and surface concerns in a single session, photofractional treatment allows for balanced, efficient rejuvenation while preserving the integrity of the skin. This combination is particularly effective for patients with mixed concerns—those seeking brighter, smoother, more refined skin rather than focusing on a single issue.

What Photofractional Treatment Treats:
Uneven skin tone and sun damage
Fine lines and early wrinkles
Rough texture and enlarged pores
Mild acne scarring
Redness and broken capillaries
Overall dullness and loss of radiance
Downtime & Results
Immediately post-procedure, patients typically experience mild redness and warmth for several hours. Treated areas may have minimal swelling, and pigmented areas may temporarily darken before fading over several days.
Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Tinted sunblock is typically permitted the following day.
Expected results include brighter skin and more even color within 1 to 2 weeks following the treatment. Texture continues to improve as collagen remodels over several months. A series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results. The outcome is skin that looks smoother, clearer, and more luminous—without appearing over-treated.
The Skinfocused Approach
At Skinfocused, combination laser treatments are never routine—our physicians work with you to customize a treatment regimen, and thus these procedures are intentionally recommended. Our regimens encompass both thoughtful sequencing and conservative settings.
Photofractional treatment reflects our philosophy that the most effective care is often both strategic and efficient.
